Gbarnga, Bong County — The Leadership Development Program (LDP), a rising force in youth empowerment, has wrapped up a dynamic daylong career and leadership training for over thirty young minds in Gbarnga.
The transformative session, held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the Passion Hotel, marked LDP’s second mentorship training since its establishment on November 24, 2024, by Bong County’s own, Mr. Nee-Alah T. Varpilah.
Speaking to journalists at the close of the event, Mr. Varpilah described the initiative as more than just a program—it’s a lifelong passion. “My vision is to build the leadership capacity of young people, equipping them to inspire change within their schools and communities,” he stated. He emphasized that Liberia’s path to sustainable development hinges on nurturing the next generation of leaders.

LDP’s mentorship doesn’t stop at the workshop doors. According to Mr. Varpilah, the current cohort of student leaders will receive ongoing mentorship until November 2025. Upon completion, they’ll transition into “Fellows,” taking on the mantle to guide the next wave of aspiring leaders.
Participants left the session energized and inspired. “This training reshaped my understanding of leadership,” said one participant, highlighting the power of SMART goals—Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound—as a key takeaway.
With heartfelt gratitude, the participants praised Mr. Varpilah for his impactful initiative, pledging to apply the lessons learned and ripple the change throughout their communities.
LDP isn’t just training leaders—it’s creating a movement.
